Retcon Event
- Before returning to the Guild Hall, Malachi drops off some gold at Shiax’s door
- Her home is located in the middle class part of town; interior is covered in scrolls and books
- Mal doesn’t want to talk to Shiax, leaves 60 gp through the letterbox
Guild Hall – The night before
- Tiel consoles Fletcher: “No one wants to come down there”
- Fletcher: “Except Cassie, but I can see where she’s coming from.” She’s also scientifically curious about the Void
- Fugue approaches Fletcher and offers his sympathies about Rion. Seems like he has an agenda!
- He’s acting coy about what he’s trying to do; Pan catches on
- Fletcher pointedly takes out Moradin’s holy symbol and prays
- Mal attunes to the Cube sneakylike :) No one sees a thing!
- Everyone attunes to their new magic things
- Fletcher’s magical toolbelt is minorly enchanted so she can’t make a Bag of Holding like she’d mentioned? Has to be refreshed every so often
- Tiel says she has another Bag of Holding
- Fletcher offers to improve Tiel’s armour; she also sets out an elixir hashtag JustArtificerThings
- We sleep :)
Sike! Roll initiative!
- Fugue automatically passes the Perception check because he’s pretending to sleep hashtag JustRebornThings
- There’s rumbling in the ground, everyone wakes up and dons their armour
- Fugue and Tiel fail a Dexterity saving throw and fall over the stairs
- We receive instructions from Lady Venus
- North Team → Apothecary Guild
- South Team → Plaza
- Outside, there’s chaos! Pitch-black tendrils grabbing people into the void, including our merchant friend Booru D:
- There’s a huge dragon flying over (my friend Rathalos <3)
- Venus says she’ll take care of it, while South Team takes care of the monsters in the courtyard
- Big crane-like monster lands: an Aknosom!
- Initiative starts
- Aknosom attacks two lesbian civilians who just came back from the club </3
- Pan conjures an echo of themself, a grayscale version
- Aknosom is immune to fire damage, but weak to ice?
- A fledging Legiana arrives at the scene – it’s weak to fire!
- The lesbian civilians get away hashtag LoveWins
- Legiana ice breath freezes Mal in place
- Pan kills the Aknosom – decapitates it!
- Malachi dispatches the Legiana, pulling on Pan’s braid to get them out of the way as she throws a dagger at it
- Lady Venus is up on the balcony casting a ritual and finishes it as the battle is done
- Her tattoos light up golden
- North team also finishes their job at the Guild
- Juno comes up and checks on us. His voice sounds raw, like it hurts to speak, like he’s been screaming himself hoarse
- We perceive Juno :)
- Mal and Pan: He’s armoured every inch of him, and there’s a big red scarf wrapped around his neck
- Fugue and Fletch: He wears a holy symbol of a crystal crescent moon (Selûne), and his neck piece has runes carved around it 👀
- The lesbians thank Pan and give them 12 gp
- Rest of the North team joins them in the Plaza
- Kivia barks Juno’s name, and he very obediently goes to her
- Eros is a low-key guy in unassuming browns and whites; Fugue rolls a History check: he recognises him! A memory of him hanging out in a temple surfaces
- Mal asks about Venus’s spell: it’s Dominate Monster
Back to Bed
- Fugue sketches Mal and Pan’s kill moment
- Pan cannot Perceive
- Fletcher has a nightmare
- Hypnotic pattern of eyes, speaks temptation to her, but she can’t remember the words upon waking
- Pan is the first to “wake up”
- Again, Fugue has been pretending to sleep all this time, lying motionless; he sees/hears Pan talking to their echo
- They sound more serious than usual — “This is it”
Breakfast
- We have breakfast :)
- Pan inhales food
- Fugue doesn’t eat / pretends to eat
- Eros talks to Pan, comments about the ~mysterious~ cleric (Fugue)
- Pan tells him to go talk to him, and he obliges
- He asks about Fugue’s god; he doesn’t answer
- Eros worships Milil — he apparently told Eros to go down into the Void?
- Fugue says it’s the same for him, but that it’s a pilgrimage for him to go down there. To descend into the Void is to walk physically into Her embrace <3
- Insight check — Eros knows what he is :) (Gay? A Shar worshipper? Both!?)
- Venus mission briefing
- She gives us modified Sending stones — 5 minute Zoom call with her once a day, and the ability to talk to each other like a group chat?
- Go to first layer base camp
- She takes out a brush tipped with gold, paints a sigil on the back of everyone’s hand: Enhance Ability warpaint. ‘Tis a one-time use spell with delayed casting!
Plaza
In the Plaza, there’s a crowd to see off the 27th Expedition. It’s not as large as it used to be, but there’s still a lot of people attending.
- Fletcher’s entire family is there to see her off <3
- Florence hugs Fletcher tightly, then catapults her into the air. Her twin Frida catches her
- Fletch tells them to get to Waterdeep
- Perception checks from everyone to see who’s in the crowd

- Sebastian is in the crowd talking to Kivia looking innocuous
- There’s an orcish woman with red hair, burn scar, and a missing arm, staring daggers at Mal. (This is Shiax)
- Shiax talks to Mal telepathically: “I found your gift, if that’s what you want to call it. Find him and bring him back.”
- Mal: “I said I would. Look after yourself. I’ll look after him.”
- Insight check — Shiax is looking at Mal not with contempt, but with a lot of anger covering a lot of hurt </3
- Pan leans on Mal’s shoulder: “You good?” Doesn’t care about Shiax looking at them
- Mal & Fletcher sees in the crowd:
- A masked person watching
- A halfling hiding in an alley
It’s Void Time :)
We descend!
- You feel it in your feet first, a gentle magic pressure, until we’re fully immersed. You get the sense that a barrier has been breached.
- Tiel asks everyone why we’re in the expedition:
- Pan wants to kill their old boss in the Zhentarim
- Mal is on a rescue mission, presumably Shiax’s kid
- Tiel wants to find her younger brother who got mixed up with the Zhents and went to the Void
- Turns out both Pan and Tiel have grudges against the Zhentarim
- Fugue says don’t worry about me :) He’s just here because god told him to <3
- Hex (sp?) is the leader of the Rogue Divers Guild. The Rogue Divers Guild broke off contact and are now going against Venus
- Fletcher’s vial of voidstuff — nicked it off Sebastian, who nicked it off Venus
- She can’t get a proper read on it, but gets the feeling they can use it as a compass. Though it’s probably not a good idea to blindly follow it
First Layer
The First Layer looks very much like the Underdark
- The lift system has runes around it
- Tiel makes a rough sketch
- Mal investigates: it’s a protective barrier to prevent monsters from going up and destroying the lift
- Hey so there’s a dead body in here…
- Pan takes 7 gp from the corpse
- It’s a skeleton, already picked clean by previous adventurers
- Fugue and Fletcher finds an indent in one of the mushroom clusters leading into a secret passage
Druid’s Garden
- There’s buried houses from the Plaza, one completely crumbled into ruins, and one OK-looking
- Inside the house, Pan finds a letter, a Potion of Resistance and a bottle of Grease yayyy
- It’s the house of a researcher / grad student probably, who’s very much into Halia’s history with the First Circle and King Halric
- Fugue senses an undead entity nearby
- There’s a couple of Pukei-Pukei sleeping, and beyond them, a woman standing with their back to us
- Tiel warns the party that there’s many of these undead around, acting weird like this
- Party decides to attack the Pukei-Pukei, which earns them a surprise round
- We proceed to get our asses handed to us, especially Pan and Mal who almost went down
- Fugue kills one of the Pukei-Pukei with Toll the Dead, and Fletcher kills off the other with her axe, cleaving off an appendage and spewing poisonous blood everywhere
- Fugue casts Lesser Restoration on Mal to cure her poison since she failed her Constitution check post-combat
- Tiel casts Prestidigitation on everyone to get themselves clean :) Yayyy Tiel <3
- Party takes refuge inside the house for a Short Rest
